Trustees
One Community is a registered Charity with eight trustees, each of whom is elected by our members for a three year term of office. Elections for trustees take place at our AGM.
Trustees oversee and scrutinise the work of the charity and meet at least six times a year. The Chair also has line management responsibility for the Chief Executive.

Chair of Trustees – Kim Day
A bit about Kim
Kim worked for Southampton City Council for 35 years, in a range of roles connected with the delivery of corporate services such as HR, Finance and Organisational Development. Many of these roles involved leading the delivery of corporate projects which developed her skills in project and programme management.
Kim served as a Hampshire school governor for nine years, including seven years as the Chair of Governors, leading the Board through a period of significant change.
Kim has lived in Hedge End with her husband for over 40 years. She is a keen photographer, especially of architecture, birds and dogs within the family. Kim is also interested in history and is currently half-way through a project to visit all the cathedrals in England.
Kim has a grown up son and a dog called Bella.
Treasurer – Andrew Black
A bit about Andrew
Having moved to Southampton on qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1983, Scottish born Andrew has worked in Eastleigh for three decades. His experience runs from individual tax returns to ground-working contractors turning over in excess of £35m per annum.
Married to Naomi who works for the NHS, they have one son, Callum, who is currently working, coaching and playing rugby in Edinburgh. Andrew lives in Swanmore and is a keen rugby follower, having been Treasurer of Winchester RFC. He and Naomi seek out talent for the Scottish Exiles rugby pathway, identifying and supporting Scottish qualified players South of the border and overseas. A sports lover, Andrew played cricket socially for 20 years and has also been Treasurer of Bishops Waltham Dynamos football club. He spent two years as Treasurer of the Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity and for the last three years has been a Director/Treasurer of the Eastleigh BID.
Trustee – Warwick Clews
A bit about Warwick
Warwick is a career management consultant with over 30 years’ experience working in the Financial Services industry. In his career he has been a partner/managing director, owner and NED in a number of small and large consultancy businesses. For clients and consultancy businesses he has been heavily involved in strategy, business development and marketing, as well as charity work through his consultancy businesses.
Warwick joined One Community as he wanted to contribute personally to local charities and the community, particularly to use his consulting and marketing experience.
Trustee – Tahina Akther
A bit about Tahina
Tahina is a highly experienced Barrister and owns the national law firm Wildcat Law. A well published lawyer, her practice experience spans over 20 years. She has been a member of chambers in Exeter, Manchester and Southampton, as well as in-house counsel for a number of law firms specialising in complex areas such as Estate and Pension Trustee advice.
A known problem solver, Tahina brings extensive experience dealing with issues such as valuations of companies, final salary pensions, trusts, structuring businesses and complex financial structures. In addition to her legal work, Tahina has been actively involved in a number of organisations and committees focussed on social mobility and EDI. Outside the office, Tahina is a mother of two and enjoys playing cricket.
Trustee – Pat Statham
A bit about Pat
Pat has lived in Eastleigh for two decades, and in this time has managed a preschool in Hedge End, worked within the Health & Community Team at Eastleigh Borough Council and run a Community Interest Company. Pat is also a trustee for the Asian Welfare & Cultural Association, as well as Secretary for the Fairtrade in Eastleigh Borough Campaign. Through these roles she has gained experience working with children, young people and adults, as well as a range of different agencies.
Through her work and voluntary roles Pat has been impressed by One Community’s sterling support for individuals and groups across the area, and welcomes the chance to be a part of One Community’s future.
Trustee – Gail Bloomfield
A bit about Gail
Gail is a retired HR professional who has lived in and around Fareham and Eastleigh since 1981. She was a Director of Right HR since setting up the business in 2003, with its primary focus to provide HR support to small/medium sized local businesses without the resources to employ their own HR professional. She supported a diverse range of clients in many sectors including private, public and charity. Gail’s background is in operational management, having worked for several national companies before returning to Portsmouth University to gain her Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management. Local businesses she has worked with include Haskins Garden Centres and for 10 years she was the HR Manager of Eastleigh College.
Gail is a keen beekeeper and loves walking her dog with her husband John. For a time she played hockey for Trojan’s and was the manager/captain of the Trojan’s Ladies Development Team which was set up to encourage women back to hockey. Gail is also an Associate Member of Eastleigh Rotary Club and you will see her out and about supporting their numerous fundraising events.
Trustee – David Lowe
A bit about David
David is a local businessman who has lived in Eastleigh since moving from Portsmouth in 2004. After a number of years in the Royal Navy, he served for 20 years in local government where he worked in strategy and policy units, specialising most recently in project and programme management.
A former and very social rugby player, David was the second team captain at Eastleigh RFC after having played for more than 10 years at Gosport and Fareham. He’s previously been a volunteer supporting both young persistent offenders and veterans who had become involved in the criminal justice system. David is married to Sarah, and they have three grown up children.
Trustee – Sam Crompton
A bit about Sam
Sam is an operational manager in a national infrastructure company, with over 20 years experience in safety critical roles. In his career, Sam has worked variously in System Development, Strategy, Training and Operations, ensuring safe service delivery to customers. Sam also works with local small companies on IT projects, providing support in areas such as website development, Microsoft 365 and data solutions.
Sam was drawn to One Community by the local nature of the charity and a desire to help by providing his safety, service and IT experience. Outside of work, Sam is married with a daughter and enjoys walking, watching his daughter play sports and travelling.
