The Community Showcase was held on Saturday 2 July at Ferneham Hall, Fareham, and the Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Mrs Connie Hockley was in attendance as well as the Portsmouth Military Wives Choir, who performed at the event.
The first Community Showcase was a great success, with over sixty stands and some great entertainment from local choirs and singers. Fareham and Stubbington Community Markets had some delicious produce on offer, and there were some beautiful photographs and crafts for sale.
Hobby groups had people engaging with chess, curling and model railways, and there were lots of advice givers, environmental and support organisations who were both raising awareness of their services and also recruiting volunteers.
Lots of volunteers were recruited by a variety of organisations – Honeypot Children’s Services, Witness Service, Help in Bereavement, CAB, Stubbington Ark, Y Services, Fareham Trefoil Guild, Solent Diabetes, Community Responders, Brendoncare, St Mary’s Church and Hampshire Conservation Volunteers, to name a few. Recruiting new volunteers will ensure that these organisations continue to make a big difference in the Fareham area.
The Mayor of Fareham was delighted to see so many friends from among the various community organisations and said the event was “Magic!”
Groups are already booking for next year’s event (Saturday 1 July at Ferneham Hall).
