One Community – Able to Help
Although our normal services are suspended our teams, in both Eastleigh and Fareham, are still able to either offer direct help (shopping, prescriptions, dog walking) or signposting to the help available.
Ring us on 023 8090 2400 in Eastleigh or 07702 802555 in Fareham, 9am-4pm Monday to Friday.
Local community Radio Unity 101 FM is still operating across the district, and One Community’s Chief Executive Jean Roberts-Jones will be joining Kelly on the radio as part of a Question and Answer session, 8th April 3.40pm.
We have worked with our friends at Unity101 for a number of years.
If you would like to know more about them please see their website HERE.
Minstead Trust is a member of One Community and supports a large number of service users in the Eastleigh community. They also run the all-inclusive and popular Skill-up community drop in group in the area on a Friday which, like so many services, has now understandably had to close its doors.
Furzey Gardens is now closed
Hanger Farm Arts centre is now closed
Minstead Lodge conference and event venue is now closed
The impact of Coronavirus across the whole of the Trust has been dramatic and they have now launched an emergency appeal so our brilliant, dedicated and hard-working staff continue to try and offer support to those most vulnerable in our society, putting themselves and their families at risk in order to do so.
We really do need some fit and well volunteers to help delivering food and medicines for our most vulnerable people. We already have some but would like more as do all of our fellow voluntary sector support organisations. If you are a car driver we want to support those who use their cars to help their community.
If you are using your own car for voluntary purposes to transport medicines or groceries to support others who are impacted by Covid-19, your cover will not be affected. You do not need to contact your insurer to update your documents or extend your cover. This applies to all categories of NHS Volunteer Responders, including transporting patients, equipment, or other essential supplies.
For people who want to volunteer through the COVID19 crisis please follow the following guidelines:
Register with your local Hampshire volunteer centrelocal Hampshire volunteer centrelocal Hampshire volunteer centre. Volunteer centres are there to provide support at a local level for individual volunteers and volunteer involving organisations. They can ensure that voluntary action is mobilized where it is needed and in a safe and, where required, legally compliant way.
If you cannot register with a volunteer centre, informal volunteering is fine for people that you know e.g. neighbours, friends, relatives. However when volunteering for strangers, to protect both parties it is advised to have DBS or identity checking, a service also undertaken by Volunteer Centre/Councils for Voluntary Services.
If you have a DBS completed in the last two years, it might be that you do not need a new one. Please contact us at One Community or your local volunteer centre.

Bus Pass Hours of Operation Extended to All Days and All Times.
As part of its response to the public health emergency posed by COVID-19 #Coronavirus, Hampshire County Council has extended the hours of operation of the Hampshire ENCTS bus pass scheme from its current 09:30 to 24:00 on weekdays and at all times at weekends and on public holidays, to all days and all times.
This will only apply to those community transport services on which people can currently use their bus passes.
This will apply to One Community’s Dial-A-Ride, #Dial-A-Ride Shopping services and #ParishLink, but not the Hedge End Park service.
This is a temporary measure for the duration of the public health #emergency only.
For further information about One Community’s #transport services please phone 023 8090 2450 or 023 8090 2432

Pop Up Shop Opened on 16tb March
Due to Corona Virus (Covid-19) the pop up shop has closed, but will reopen at an appropriate time.
A community pop up shop has opened in Eastleigh’s Swan Centre shopping centre on Monday 16 March, with the ribbon being cut by the Deputy Mayor of Eastleigh Cllr Cynthia Garton at 10.30am.
The shop, located between Boots and Card Factory, is currently being furnished with chairs and tables in anticipation of its role as a shopfront for local charities, voluntary and community groups. The project is a result of partnership work between Flourish, an organisation dedicated to connecting people and places; Solent Mind, a charity committed to better mental health; and the voluntary sector support charity One Community, to offer free space in the shopping centre.
Groups can book a one-off slot, perhaps in relation to a particular campaign “day” or “week”, or a regular slot, such as the first Monday of the month, for their organisation to showcase their services, run an activity, host a meeting or simply attract new members or volunteers.
Solent Mind will be occupying the shop on Fridays and Saturdays providing wellbeing services to local people.
The shop will be available Monday to Thursday for local organisations to book their space and One Community’s Naomi Stock is responsible for bookings. Contact Naomi on 023 8064 1202/023 8090 2400 or email email@example.com
Regretfully, due to the corona virus (covid-19) pandemic, we have had to postpone the next couple of Fareham Community events.
Watch this space and we will post further details when we have them.
