COVID EMERGENCY RESPONSE VOLUNTEERS

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

The two areas we work in, Eastleigh and Fareham are in need of volunteers.

They need people to get and deliver shopping.

Volunteer phone companion callers.

Cheery callers to check on how people are

You will need to have a DBS check and two references to do this.

When you volunteer, yes absolutely you are providing an invaluable service and support.

It looks great on your CV. Our volunteers tell us they get a huge boost in their own well-being having been part of giving back to the community.

If you would like to help in either Eastleigh or Fareham areas email volunteer@1community.org.uk

You can call the Eastleigh office on 023 8090 2400 or Fareham 07702 802 555

Tea with a Twist

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

Tea with Twist

One Community is working in partnership to set up a new project in Hedge End. Launching in February, Tea with a Twist will be an opportunity for local people to access information about local services, whilst meeting friends and having a cup of tea.
Come and volunteer on a Tuesday morning, meet some new people, and make a real difference in helping others to find the support that they need.
Volunteers will be on a rota, so you will not be needed every Tuesday morning. The shift will be from 9.45am-12pm. Volunteers will set up, serve tea and coffee, put out board games and be ready to chat. One Community will provide information sheets about local services and will provide training for volunteers so that you are equipped to signpost visitors to local services.
Telephone: 023 8090 2400

Happy New Year

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

We wish all our; customers, staff, volunteers and the communities of Eastleigh and Fareham we serve, a very happy new year!

Looking back over 2019, we have done so much! Looking back to Shop Mobility collecting their service award from the mayor of Eastleigh, fast forward to moving to our temporary premises at 75 Leigh Road.

We have all worked hard to improve the lot of people in Fareham and Eastleigh through our community project support, volunteering, Eastleigh museum’s and Fareham’s shop outreach and Young Carers groups. Our transport appeal for funding for a new bus is almost at the point of being able to get one on the road and the day activity services are a fun and welcoming place to be.

One Community is changing and in 2020 and we are looking forward to sharing a swan centre shop with local charity Fledge in the spring. We have several new training opportunities too.

Wishing all of you a very happy new year!

From all of us at One Community.

Day Activity Centre Christmas

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

The festive season is nearly with us and our Day Service teams have been planning plenty of opportunities for fun!

All of these pictures were taken at our central day activity centre.

There was plenty of music, singing and dancing and a wonderful treat when the children from local school, The Crescent came along to sing.

We have got some beautiful cards made too!

If you would like to do something different with your time, you could volunteer to help in the day service. If you would like more details or to chat through how we’d support, encourage and equip you to do it. Ring Julia on 02380902457

Email volunteer@1community.org.uk

If you know someone who has got some memory loss and would benefit from coming to do a range of activities, have a good hot meal and meet new friends, please get in touch.

Ring Hayley Malcolm on 02380902400

Email Hmalcolm@1community.org.uk

We would love to hear from you?
