It is mental health week and we are looking at getting more funding and volunteers to help with our young carers, at risk of mental health.
We are really lucky in the Eastleigh area to have some amazing young people. Some of these are young carers. They spend a lot of time with a person who has a significant impairment and this effects their lives in many ways.
Because of the extra pressures and worries involved in life, together with other factors, they are at greater risk of mental health issues.
To combat these issues and increase happiness, our young carers team run various events and offer family support. There is; a young carers choir, youth activity groups and holiday time activities. Sometimes our young carers project gets a donation of Easter eggs, a day out or Christmas hampers. Our supporters are amazing, especially our One Community bus passengers, the ROTARY and LIONS.
Ideally would like to have more spaces to support more families. This will improve mental well-being and increase the chances of young carers to reach their potential.
So a young carer and her grandad have come up with a FANTASTIC idea to raise money for us.
Here is our Facebook post explaining all about it:
#eastleigh #youngcarers #mentalhealthweek we run young carers activities for yr3-yr13. Improving mental health as we go. To help us do some #Recycling of
