Sensational Screen News

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

Great News! We have completed fitting of screens to 3 of the minibuses meaning we have increased capacity in the fleet.

Screens make the vehicles much more covid secure as they provide a physical barrier between the drivers and passengers compartments so making them compliant with social distancing and making travel safer for the users and the drivers.

Good Eh?

Ring 023 8090 2450 to book a dial-a-ride covid secure journey.

Super Steve!

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

SUPER STEVE!

Rockstar ‘loading the checkout’ technique with gloves on. He is doing shopping for our vulnerable people in isolation. Normally, he is one of our DIAL-A-RIDE drivers.

Steve is a member of staff alongside a team of people co-ordinating, supporting and improving the lives of people who have extra needs and their families.

We have been inundated with volunteers and really are geared up to help you, with practical support needs as well as keeping in touch.

These are strange times and we are here to help in the Eastleigh and Fareham areas.

Please ring us on:

New Transport News- Due to Covid-19

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

Bus Pass Hours of Operation Extended to All Days and All Times.

https://1community.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/joined_video_92edc88fcc8a4f20ab6f3c6f1cff0b61.mp4

As part of its response to the public health emergency posed by COVID-19 #Coronavirus, Hampshire County Council has extended the hours of operation of the Hampshire ENCTS bus pass scheme from its current 09:30 to 24:00 on weekdays and at all times at weekends and on public holidays, to all days and all times.

This will only apply to those community transport services on which people can currently use their bus passes.

This will apply to One Community’s Dial-A-Ride, #Dial-A-Ride Shopping services and #ParishLink, but not the Hedge End Park service.

This is a temporary measure for the duration of the public health #emergency only.

For further information about One Community’s #transport services please phone 023 8090 2450 or 023 8090 2432

ShopMobility and Dial-A-Ride

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

Would you like to look round the shops, stop for a coffee and have a sit about in the park? Is this a distant dream as you have had a recent operation, a poorly leg, iffy balance, an accident or just poor mobility?
Maybe you have a medical condition that makes you exhausted quickly and you just need a bit of physical support but don’t know which one would suit you best.

We have a FABULOUS solution for you here at Eastleigh ShopMobility. Recently we have won the BID Gold Award for customer services. We are open from 9-4.30 Monday-Friday. 9-4 on a Saturday (Closed on Sundays.)

You can hire; Scooters, Powerchairs or manual chairs.
To register or just make a booking please telephone 023 8090 2402 or email us here
The Shopmobility office is located at:
Unit 2, Swan Centre, Wells Place, Eastleigh, Hants SO50 9SG.

It is a flat cost of £8 to become a member of ShopMobility. Once you are a member you can benefit from a much cheaper rate of hire.

You can book a manual wheelchair for a day- £3 for a non member and £1.50 for a member, if you wanted an extended lease (as in overnight) this can be arranged for a further £1.50

If you are a member you can book a powerchair or a scooter for a day for £3 or £5 if you are a non member.

If it is difficult to drive or get a lift into Eastleigh, please contact our Dial-A-Ride services who will happily book you on one of our friendly community service buses.
Pre 9.30am, local shorter journeys eg from Boyatt Wood or Cherbourg Road to Eastleigh ShopMobility cost £2 (return) per passenger. After 9.30am the cost is £1.50 return. For longer journeys e.g. from Hedge End to ShopMobility in Eastleigh it would be £3.

The Amazing Aloe Adventure.

by Jenni Bevis-Lacey

We need more drivers to volunteer with us. Have a read of this and see if it chimes with you? Is this the sort of thing you would like to get involved in?

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I will begin! One day one of our passengers booked his dial-a-ride as he wanted to go to Haskins in West End to buy an Aloe Vera plant. All ready to go, he was geared up but when the day came, he was not well enough to go. He was ever so disappointed.

There was no chance of getting one any other way.

But One Community’s transport team swung into action and someone took time out at the weekend and bought him an Aloe Vera plant!

He was overjoyed with his lovely plant and the genuine kindness shown.

We would LOVE to hear from you if you could offer a few hours volunteering as a driver for us.
