We are very grateful to the Chandlers Ford Chameleon Theatre Company, based at Ritchie Hall, who have donated the proceeds of their raffles this year, £1,042, to the One Community mini bus fund. Pictured above are Chair of One Community Adrian Hughes and Roger Hester of the Chameleons.
Adrian said: “The work of One Community in providing services to combat loneliness and isolation is vital. We are grateful to the Chameleon Theatre in Chandlers Ford for the donation. The gift will be added to our mini bus replacement fund allowing us to continue to provide a vital service.”
Today, live on Unity101fm we interviewed the wonderful Joanna from Staging Faith.
We talked about loads of things! The point being that Staging Faith is a group set up for children and young people from year 4 and up. The children who go come from various churches, faiths and religions but come together to do a play about common values. This time the play is called “Vincent” and is all about kindness. As you will hear on the podcast, Joanna and her team have put their all into providing an exciting evening entertainment that gives young people a chance to hone their skills.
Here is the podcast.
Staging faith has a few tickets left for Friday 31st May and several tickets left for Saturday 1st June. They cost £2 a ticket. 7.30 start. At Chandlers Ford Methodist Church.
Look at these glorious buses!
Aren’t they beauties?
If you have a few hours to give (literally 2 hours would be fabulous), we would LOVE to have you driving these buses. We do MiDAS training and will get all your forms up together.
We are fundraising through LIONS for a brand new bus, (Quiz night coming up)maybe you will get a go on that? Tempting eh?
Here is a comment from one of our drivers about the variety of journeys they get involved with.
“The day trips I do are normally to different pubs. The favourite pub is the Inn By The Swan at Lee on Solent. They love the carvery there and the staff are so very helpful, we stop off at the sea front on a good day and they like to have an ice cream and watch the sea for a while. We then stop at a local farm shop where they all trundle off the mini bus and buy fruit, veg and flowers of the season. I normally have two bus loads and the drivers help me with getting the food for passengers that have difficulties.”
Also, we need people to drive their own cars about to take people from A to B.
It is good fun and we have a wonderful set of passengers who would love to meet you.
