The Star Awards is a celebration of the Saints Foundation, which is an independent charity aligned to Southampton Football Club, and in particular the achievements of some of the charity’s participants who have worked hard to change their own and other’s lives for the better during 2015.
It therefore seemed fitting that this year, One Communities very own young super stars were asked to perform at this prestigious event. The Young Carers Choir, which began in June 2015 with thanks to a grant from Youth Music, comprises of 14 Young Carers from across Hampshire, including Eastleigh, Romsey and Winchester. During the month of December, they worked alongside other young musicians from Newtown Studio’s, including MC’s, drummers, saxophone players and guitarists, to put together a fantastic performance for the Saints Foundation awards ceremony which was held at St Mary’s Football Stadium.
The Star Awards performance, which took place on Tuesday 15th December 2015 and was to an audience of over 100 people, can be viewed here. We are very proud of the young carers who were involved. It was wonderful to see their confidence flourish throughout the rehearsals and the enthusiasm and spirit was amazing.
